Regarding the cross, I am not a religious person but I do enjoy the colorful additions to our community, some of which sit on public land and can be construed as religious relics. Still the assumptions that a cross represents ONLY certain religions do not consider that the cross’s symbolism represented universal suffering before it represented certain Christian religions. Sticks and stones can break our bones but symbols cannot hurt us. Symbols belong to the eye of the beholder. Can we please just get along?
