It's time for that ornately-hued job sector chart:

The leisure and hospitality industry has again added the lion's share of jobs to the San Diego economy. The sector employed 7,300 more people in July 2007 than it did a year prior. The professional services and government sectors came in a distant second and third, adding 4,200 jobs and 4,000 jobs respectively.

Construction was in last place, as we've come to expect, down by 3,500 jobs in the past year. The financial sector, including real estate, was down by 1,500 jobs while manfuacturing lost 1,100.

For the year, the economy gained 13,800 jobs overall -- a serious improvement over last month's showing.
