Gee...apparently the scandals, conflicts of interest, and direct involvement of developers (or their real estate front-men, like in the Planning Group) uncovered by VoSD in the Otay Mesa Community Plan update haven't been enough there (let alone other community planning groups). What does it take? Isn't the public good supposed to be served by our City staff?

"One party in power - one party at fault" As it seems the power-players at SEDC and CCDC were not democrats, and as our strong Mayor is not a democrat, and as it is a safe bet that the major players in development are not democrats; could it be that there were other reasons for not taking care of the conflicts and wrongdoing (SEDC/CCDC) before the almost forced actions of these last few months? Moreover, as far as I can see the only democrat in San Diego with the backbone to make any kind of stand at all – stands-alone because all the rest of the so-called democrats appear to be afraid of their own shadows. That is the way I see it, go ahead on and tell me it is the democrats who are to blame for the mess we have in San Diego.

Apparently the mayor is too busy campaigning against Mike Aguirre and looking out for his big campaign contributors to focus on actually managing this city. Perhaps the voters should take another hard look at the "strong mayor/city manager" governance model. Trying to operate as both a politician and as a city manager may just be too much for any one person to handle. The fact that city seats on far too many administrative boards like CCDC, SEDC and the County Water Authority are filled with conflicted political hacks whose appointments expired long ago provides a strong arguement against the current government model. Jerry: Go hard or go home.

What is it called when a person does the same thing, over and over again, and expect or claims to expect a different result? Perhaps I am guilty of that conditions as well, for I keep begging the same group of politicians for a truly open and transparent government – as if I am expecting a different result than we have gotten in the past.
