11 Schools Win Honors

California Business for Academic Excellence, a statewide group, honored 11 San Diego Unified schools with awards for their academic prowess. Two elementary schools, Euclid and Florence, were recognized as "Star Schools," which are high-minority, high-poverty schools that have made top marks. Eight more schools were honored as "Scholar Schools," high-achieving schools that don't face socioeconomic challenges: Bird Rock, Dingeman, E. B. Scripps, Hearst, Jerabek, Kumeyaay and Sunset View elementary schools, and High Tech High.
