Wednesday, April 12, 2006 | E-mail certainly keeps a person from getting complacent. One friend of mine lives within the shadow of the White House where she has obviously fallen under an evil spell. Her mission seems to be to keep me on the straight and narrow – as she envisions it. You cannot get too patriotic or too religious for her.

Recently she sent me a link to a newspaper article telling of how the Oceanside school district banned the display of any flag because of the immigration fuss. Her message needed only a terse note: “This some of your folks?”

We have to learn to avoid trouble. I support the moratorium of the Oceanside school district and elsewhere, at least until things calm down. What we don’t need is more people killed. Had Americans obeyed the order of their president in 1964 we could have saved 10 lives and one more black eye in Latin America.
