Three weeks ago, there were 540 condos for sale in downtown San Diego. That was 100 more than at the beginning of the year, was the highest number ever, and the inventory level – the number of unsold condos left on the market – had been climbing steadily for months.
But last week, inventory levels dropped, according to Little Italy Realtor Lew Breeze, who has been keeping track of inventory levels in downtown for the last few years. There were 537 condos for sale last week.
This week, that number’s back up to 540 – back to the record level. Whether the flatness in the inventory level signals a coming plateau, or a return to the steadily increasing numbers, is anybody’s guess.
In the past three years, inventory has risen throughout the year until about October when the levels cool off and then drop through to the New Year.
If you haven’t visited Breeze’s site, it’s well worth a visit for anyone interested in the downtown market.
