San Diego City Councilman Jim Madaffer is hosting an anti-Miramar rally Wednesday night in Tierrasanta.

It is, according to an e-mail sent to constituents, a forum.

But if you’re pro-Miramar, you may want to stay away. Madaffer’s e-mail says it is about “defending Marine Corps Air Station Miramar against joint-use.”

“You’ll hear from community and political leaders and experts about why Miramar does not work as a joint use airport,” the e-mail continues.

Sounds balanced.

Sounds a bit like the anti-Miramar contingent is responding to the public forums sponsored by ASAP21, the Alliance in Support of Airport Progress in the 21st Century. That group hasn’t formally endorsed the Miramar plan, but supports a new airport. They’ve been holding a series of airport-related forums dubbed “San Diego Speaks. We Listen.” They’ll convene Wednesday night in El Cajon.

We’ve been closely following the politics of the airport authority’s debate. Check out our most recent story.
