La Jolla Cove was closed to water-goers late yesterday afternoon after a 720-gallon sewage spill on Coast Boulevard.
The spill from a private sewer line was reported at 4:09 p.m. yesterday and was contained about 40 minutes later.
The sewage headed for a storm drain that empties into the cove. The county’s Department of Environmental Health has closed the area, and said the cause of the spill is under investigation.
