Chris Thornberg, the charismatic, outspoken go-to-guy at the University of California, Los Angeles Anderson Forecast, will be leaving the university at the end of the month.

Thornberg is leaving the well-respected team of economists to start his own company, Beacon Economics.

An expert in international and labor economics, Thornberg has been a prominent commentator on the real estate market in San Diego and across California. He appears to have both feet firmly in the “bubble” camp when it comes to predicting what’s going to happen to real estate in the coming months and years.

Thornberg was the subject of a piece I wrote about the housing market back in February. You can read the story here.
