Wednesday, July 19, 2006 | Will Carless wrote a worthy article on the proposed Regents Road Bridge in University City. As a 34-year U.C. resident, I see Rose Canyon as a San Diego treasure, not just a University City blessing. Just take Amtrak from San Diego to Solana Beach and study the canyon between North and South U.C. A bridge would violate this canyon and not solve traffic problems. A bridge would invite overbuilding of tsunami proportions. A bridge would not be a fire station with paramedics so desperately needed in South U.C. as proponents claim, looking at the bridge as an easy artery to bring paramedics south. Seven signal lights on Regents Road separate South U.C. from the closest hospital.

When is Scott Peters going to take a stand one way or the other on the bridge? Will he make a moral choice with a vision for future generations or will he acquiesce to the developers? Councilman Peters, we’re waiting for your leadership. The clock is ticking.
