Monday, July 24, 2006 | Of course the White House supports the cross transfer. It’s an easy, safe thing to support, firms up conservative supporters, and lets the courts deal with the truly hard issues of the matter – like Constitutional separation of church and state. The sadness is that our mayor (including then-Mayor Murphy) feel so insecure they need to squander even more taxpayer funds on this issue. I have no problems with private funds used for this issue. Just don’t like seeing my tax dollars wasted this way. So let the White House inject itself into a local issue. It can’t solve the big national issues; maybe it can do something locally.
