Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006 | Thank you, Keith Taylor, for standing up for what must be the last minority in the U.S. for which it is OK to discriminate against. If somebody mentions any slight against Christians, Jews, or even Muslims, the world explodes. Say something against atheists, though, and people seem to think we deserve it.
There is such a bias in this country for religion being a good thing. Even when reporting on a serial killer, the news tries to redeem him some by noting he came from a “good Christian family.” However, when a family tries to find out why their son was shot down overseas by friendly fire, it is noted by the brass that the family’s atheism probably makes them so upset.
There is one Christian saying, that a person’s character is known by his fruit (yes, I’m paraphrasing). I agree with this one. Thank you for displaying good fruit as an atheist.
