Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 | To Keith Taylor, I’m sorry that I missed your original “coming out” article.
I have a friend who is in the process of dying of liposarcoma. He has fought it for five years. He said the other day that it is his atheism that is keeping him alive. Any believer in a religion would have given up long ago, expecting better things lie ahead in paradise.
To my friend, this is it, and it’s all we have. I’m fairly convinced that if we all had that attitude, the planet would be in lots better shape than it is now!
