Qualcomm Stadium is the most recent addition to the list of places in San Diego where smokers may be prohibited from lighting up.

First, it was Petco Park, then it was the city’s parks and beaches, and today, the City Council took the first step toward banning smoking at Qualcomm Stadium, giving first approval to a no-smoking ordinance. The council is also seeking to prohibit tailgaters from bringing glass bottles into the stadium’s parking lot.

The council passed the ordinances without discussion, according to a City News Service report, and no tailgaters or smokers came out to oppose the bans. The council must vote again on the ordinances before they become binding.
