Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 | Did anyone notice in the U-T yesterday Aguirre’s slight of hand as he attempted to shift the focus from his office illegally abusing SLA contract billing under his leadership because it was only “thousands” of dollars instead of millions? Does that mean it’s not illegal for his office to break the law? I thought he was elected to uphold the law, not try to save his butt, (a la Ken Lay), by blaming others for what has occurred under his leadership. What do the myriad silent city ethics groups think about that?
Seems to me that continuing to prosecute the retirement board because the city didn’t pay their bills is a lot like punishing a landlord because his tenants haven’t paid the rent. At least a little stupid!
I propose that voiceofsandiego.org do an investigation to see how many of our tax dollars and utility fees Aguirre has wasted on the frivolous cases and appeals he’s lost…which would be ALL of them! I bet at least half of the pension deficit could have been paid off with funds Aguirre used, and continues to use, to support his press addiction. He’s treating tax payers with complete disrespect and disregard. And who’s doing the city attorney work while he’s playing politics? It appears our city voted in a very unsuccessful attorney who isn’t representing our best interests. Perhaps we should fire him!
