Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006 | Thank you for your insightful editorial of today. Jerry Sanders has an opportunity to “lead.” This will be difficult for him being so imbued with the orientation of an “administrator.” He still clings to the so-called equivocal campaign promise of “no new taxes” while hypocritically mouthing his pension obligation bonds! He apparently has no political courage, and little moral fortitude to simply grab the bull (the problems of city government) by the horns. He has no vision although the dear man is not blind! If he has no greater political aspirations, then he should face the awful facts of our city government and grab the political pulpit and speak up for real solutions and tell San Diegans there is no free lunch! Adopt a trash collection fee! Increase the hotel tax! In short, Jerry act like a leader not a city manager.
