Monday, Aug. 14, 2006 | I must agree with Scott Lewis and his position concerning the supervisors not only giving themselves a hefty raise through their car allowance (which is ridiculous to begin with) but to also provide themselves with a pension increase, is criminal.

They obviously believe that county citizens are a bunch of rubes.

We know they use the allowance to buy or lease fancy cars, such as the Lexus Roberts cruises from home to office and back in.

These county employees are costing San Diego County an awful lot of money. It is time to stop this waste.

I believe the county has cars in the county pool that can be checked out by employees whenever required. These cars should be used. The supervisors then would have no concerns about maintenance, filling out gas receipts, new tires, whatever.

Also, whatever happened to the $2 million the supervisors allocated themselves to receive each year, from 1998 to the present, without oversight?
