Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006 | The Medea (Keith Taylor’s piece) is a perfect San Diego resident. Transcending her original purpose, she succeeded in a dangerous battle not of her own making, plaything for U-boat and Stuka, harrying her enemies rather than destroying them, only to be commemorated as a show horse and admired for her beauty rather than what she accomplished.

It’s a lovely irony that the warship in San Diego with the longest and proudest battle record should be – a yacht. Fitting for San Diego that she is not recognized for her role, amid all the other expensive and so-far useless equipment in the “war on terror.”

It’s a good piece; thanks.
