Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006 | It seems that Peter DiRenza has a strong attachment for Mike Aguirre as his saving angel and sword-wielding Saint George, slaying all the dragons in City Hall; Aguirre is his indomitable, incorruptible Fuehrer that can do no wrong in defense of city taxpayers.
It doesn’t seem to matter if Aguirre’s trying to force a blitzkrieg on employee benefits with a 50 percent rollback; no matter that he’s hoping to exterminate the livelihood of city retirees at the ‘stroke’ of Judge Barton’s pen; no matter that he hires and fires highly specialized colleagues in the manner of a tyrannical, ruthless dictator; no matter that he behaves like a spoiled two-year-old throwing frantic tantrums when challenged, so reminiscent of an arm-waving, foot-stomping Hitler; no matter that he shadow-boxes all his perceived enemies in a public elevator instead of a loony bin; no matter that he’s an intelligent man in powerful political office with an unbalanced personality and a dangerous paranoia disrupting many honorable lives,- highly skilled and indispensable employees who have left the city to work elsewhere, while seriously demoralizing any remaining employees, and costing the city millions in trivial lawsuits and delay tactics.
Mr. DiRenza, you desperately need to find another, better qualified hero who could strike at the real enemy: taxpayer apathy to two decades of political corruption. You, sir, are living in a dream world if you fail to see his serious immaturity, and your own in being so oblivious to his destructive Machiavellian style.
