Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006 | I would beg to differ with Scott Peters’ position that there is nothing career ending about the Kroll Report. Four of the five council members need to resign on the first day of new session in order to allow San Diego to begin the steps to recovery. Donna Frye (not an attorney unlike Scott) courageously stood alone, even when she was vilified for “not being a team player” and she initiated the Brown Act compliance as a direct consequence of the veil of secrecy at City Hall, and the too frequent lousy reports from city staff. Had Ms. Frye spoken out about the specifics of Closed Session, she would have been in violation of rules; her only recourse was to overhaul the system in general. As for Scott’s comments about Ms. Shipione – an absolute disgrace.
