Previously scheduled to begin today, preliminary hearings for two of eight Camp Pendleton-based service men charged with murder, kidnapping and conspiracy in connection with the shooting death of an Iraqi civilian in Hamdaniya, have been postponed, military officials announced this weekend.

Article 32 hearings for Cpls. Trent D. Thomas, who is also charged with assaulting an Iraqi civilian in an unrelated incident, and Marshall L. Magincalda were previously scheduled to begin this morning but were rescheduled at the request of their attorneys, according to a related press release.

Magincalda’s hearing is now scheduled to be held Aug. 30, while Thomas’s hearing is scheduled to start on Oct. 16. The hearing for PFC John J. Jodka, another of the accused Marines, is scheduled for Wednesday and will proceed as planned.

Saturday’s announcement marks the third time the hearings have been rescheduled.
