Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006 | I took our youngest teenage son to a Padres game before school began. This was a special father/son outing, the girls stayed home. We were shocked that during the National Anthem that was sung so beautifully, several people around us were talking and laughing on their cell phones. Do they not realize that there are many of our citizens out fighting for our freedom, freedom to be able to attend a game, and surely for a moment they could keep their cell phones in their pockets? Have we become such a nation that we have to speak during our National Anthem and also in church? Yes, I have heard phones ring in church and people answer them.
