The race for California’s 50th Congressional District just got a little more interesting. Francine Busby has challenged her opponent, Rep. Brian Bilbray, to at least six debates before voters in head to the polls on Nov. 7.

During those debates, Busby wants to discuss the Iraq war, the economy and immigration reform, according to a press release. Busby already plans to attend an AARP-sponsored event on Oct. 7 and another hosted by the Clairemont Town Council on Nov. 2 – events she hopes will become debates. The other dates for the proposed debates remain fluid.

There’s no word yet if Bilbray plans to accept Busby’s challenge, but we’ll keep you posted.
