Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006 | A few things off the top of my head to Pat Shea (“Federal Courts Aren’t Imbeciles“):

  • Bush v. Gore. Supreme Court stops Florida vote count and appoints Bush president. Goodbye democracy.
  • Kelo v. City of New London. Rich private corporations CAN have your house taken by eminent domain. Goodbye Fifth Amendment.
  • Scalia refusing to recuse himself, after traveling on Air Force 2 to go duck hunting in Louisiana with Cheney and oil buddies, from U.S. energy policy secrecy case where Cheney is the defendant. “Quack quack,” replies Scalia to criticism. Surprise, Cheney wins! Goodbye fair trials.

Actually, they can be worse than imbeciles.

P.S. I wrote a poem about the duck hunting trip:

Louisiana Haiku

The moon! How like a

Supreme Court justice’s butt

Quack quack quack quack quack.
