In a Michael-Jordan-playing-minor-league-baseball move, I’m coming out of TJI retirement to post this observation about the Sanders-Slay “friendly bet” over the outcome of the Padres-Cardinals match-up.
I clicked over to St. Louis Mayor Slay’s blog after Andrew Donohue posted this about an hour ago.
The following quote appeared in a press release from the mayor’s office about the wager:
“After such a great season and with so much momentum, I am confident the Padres will dispose of the Cards with relative ease,” said Mayor Sanders.
Now, check out this quote from a release on Mayor Slay’s blog – the very blog Mayor Sanders will have the chance to be featured on should the Friars find victory:
“With three straight Central division titles under our belt, I am confident the Cards will dispose of the Padres with relative ease,” said Mayor Slay.
I don’t know who copied whom, and I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But let’s hope the teams have a little more creativity or the series (which the Cardinals now lead) will surely be a yawner.
