Mayor Jerry Sanders announced today the placement of a “friendly wager” with St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay over the Padres-Cardinals playoff series.

“After such great season and with so much momentum, I am confident the Padres will dispose of the Cards with relative ease,” said Mayor Sanders.

As of press time, the Padres were losing 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The bet?

According to a press release:

Mayor Sanders is offering up a baseball fan vacation package to Mayor Slay. The package includes two airline tickets to San Diego, transportation from the airport to the hotel, a suite at world class Omni hotel next to Petco Park, lunch at a restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter, dinner at a restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter, a tour of Petco Park, a tour of a naval vessel based in San Diego and an entertainment package which includes tickets to Sea World and the World Famous San Diego Zoo. All of the items are being donated by the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau’s marketing partners.

Mayor Slay bet the following items: Two American Airlines tickets to St. Louis, a personal escort by Airport Director Kevin Dolliole to a cab ride from the airport, a suite at the Hilton next to Busch Stadium, an interview on KTRS radio with talk show host McGraw Milhaven, Lunch at Crown Candy, Dinner at Mike Shannon’s, a tour of Busch Stadium, All-access passes to City Museum, a blog entry on the Slay personal website, Mayor Slay.com.
