State Sen. Christine Kehoe wants to know this: Who should serve on the airport authority board and how should they be selected? Kehoe opposes the airport authority’s ballot measure that envisions a commercial airport at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station.

She’ll get an answer from Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Michael Lehnert and Navy Capt. Mike Allen. The two military officials, who have been outspoken airport authority critics, have 30 minutes to answer those questions during Kehoe’s hearing Tuesday on the airport authority’s future.

The five-and-a-half hour meeting in Balboa Park will also feature an hour-long presentation from authority officials; a 30-minute presentation from the researcher who produced this report on other airport management structures; and a 30-minute presentation from a handful of people familiar with airport operations.

The group includes Barbara Lichman, an aviation lawyer, and John Ziebarth, a San Diego-based architect. Both have participated in the authority’s land-use compatibility planning process.

And there’s time (at the end) for public comments.

The draft agenda is here.
