Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006 | Mr. Strehle, You seem to be on some sort of crusade. I think you are a bit misguided if you think your attack on MEA is going to benefit the citizens of San Diego. Whether you realize it or not, there is a battle going on in this country between Corporate Management and conservative politicians on one side, and unions that are trying to maintain and improve working conditions and benefits for all Americans on the other. Your attack on MEA is an attack on every worker they represent.

We pay our dues in an effort to protect and support each other. We don’t have deep pockets like the other side does. Our strength comes from our unity. When you attack MEA and its leadership, you are doing the work of those who would destroy unions all together. Maybe that is your intent. By trying to drive a wedge between us you are hurting, not helping working San Diegans. MEA is not some fabled dragon to be slain by misguided crusaders. MEA are the people that provide you with safe water, help your children find the library books they need for school, work as support for safety services, they are the people who protect us when we use our beautiful beaches and much more. Maybe you should look for some other windmill to aim your lance at.
