Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006 | In the interest of full disclosure and transparency, I think MEA/union representatives should identify themselves. Often pro-MEA letters start out by saying “I’m a city employee” but they do not always include the information that they represent MEA and have a vested interest in continuing the current administration. Ms. Simmons, Mr. Cronk, and others who have written strongly worded pro-MEA, anti-dissent speech letters have been MEA representatives, past and present. If they are proud of that fact, then they should put that information front and center in their letters, so that readers understand their natural bias and involvement in the institution.
