Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 | To borrow from “The Wiz,” every San Diegan with a brain should cast a No vote on Proposition C after reading today’s Union-Tribune Op-Ed explanation from the non-partisan League of Women Voters’ Norma Damashek and yesterday’s voiceofsandiego.org story by Evan McLaughlin citing the supposedly good experience of Indianapolis, Indiana, with outsourcing city work to private companies.

I will be voting No on Prop C after reading these two very informative pieces. The siren call of competitive free enterprise – so attractively all-American – is just a fantasy fix in our case and, in fact, presents the likelihood of more harm than good for this beleaguered city. Voting No on C doesn’t take heart or courage, just a brain.
