Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 | In his “Need Political Fix? Go Behind the Scenes,” Scott Lewis refers to the privatization of the military as a good example of what the city could expect under Proposition C. There may be stellar examples of success here and there at home, but he needs to know why this can be disastrous.

Major newspapers and magazines have recently published significant reports that uncover the enormous waste of over $1 billion (and counting) taxpayer dollars, the very poor to non-existent services and needless deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan, all the result of private contractors. Members of our armed services have been poorly served by this process. The film “Iraq: For Sale” provides substantial evidence of the corruption and greed involved.
