Newsweek magazine landed this interview with U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, who announced on Monday that he’s considering making a run for the Republican nomination for president in 2008.
The Republican congressman told the magazine that he believes “national security and a strong military are more important issues now than they have ever been.”
He goes on to say that China, Iran and North Korea all pose emerging threats and that the world is a dangerous place.
Here’s how Hunter explained his decision to run at Monday’s press conference:
“I realized it all came down to family. Our country is built upon our families. Our families lift our country up and they support us with fidelity, morality, faith in god and the raising of the next generation of Americans.”
