Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006 | I’ve just finished reading the cease and desist order from the S.E.C., and it makes the Kroll report read like a Valentine’s Day card. Every voter should take the time to peruse this document. It lays out, in clear sequence, the numerous steps, beginning in 1980, that brought the city to the brink of bankruptcy.

The extent of the corruption is mind boggling, and the culpability of several current and former City Council members, as well ex-Mayor Murphy, is clear.

The thing I simply cannot understand is the absence of recall petitions for council members who were elected in the year 2000 and participated in many of the decisions which took the city over the edge, including approval of Manager’s Proposal 2 and approval of numerous obviously false and misleading bond disclosure documents.

The doofus defense by these people simply doesn’t wash. We didn’t elect morons; we elected people lacking in integrity and common sense.
