Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006 | It has been interesting to listen to the spin the Mayor’s Office is putting on the budget deficit.

He is expecting the rank and file city workers to bear all of the pain of job reductions. But what about his own bloated staff? Does he really need both Sainz and Biagio to suppress information rather than disseminate it?

Does he really need an expensive ethics czar who reports directly to him?

As for privatization, appoint the right city managers and city departments will be just as efficient as any private corporation like Waste Management that will pencil in a generous profit margin.

It will be interesting to see, if the mayor follows through with his ill-advised plan, how many of the corporations receiving contracts contributed to the mayor’s campaign fund and/or the Prop. C initiative.
