With the Chargers’ stadium push creeping back into the conversation, reader Krystal Bell in Temecula wrote in with her concerns that the only two stadium sites under discussion right now – Chula Vista and National City – are too far away from her home base:

I have been looking for a way to voice my opinion about where the new stadium should be built … FOR US NORTH COUNTY AND RIVERSIDE COUNTY PEOPLE, WE WOULD LOVE FOR THE NEW STADIUM TO BE CLOSER TO NORTH COUNTY, AND NOT ALLLLLL THE WAY DOWN IN SOUTH COUNTY. When we drive to the games there are a ton of fans that drive down to Qualcomm. I think it would be good for everyone of us if they would meet us in the middle!!! I also wonder if anyone else has this issue or voices this issue.

Krystal touches on a big concern surrounding the placement of a stadium in South Bay: that it will be too long of a haul for its influential fans in North County and the surrounding counties.

That concern is especially strong with the Chula Vista idea. The National City site is actually quite close to downtown San Diego – only a few exits away on Interstate 5.

I’d be interested in anyone else’s thoughts on this topic. Click on my name below to e-mail me.
