I spent half of yesterday at the Undersea Defense Technology Pacific conference at the Marriott Hotel & Marina where I was looking for interesting technology to write about.

Defense contractors from all over the world were there to display their widgets in the exhibition hall. The list includes Saab Undersea Systems which displayed its Sea Owl SUBROV and Double Eagle Mk III UUVs, or unmanned undersea vehicles. The Double Eagle, pictured here, is high-speed minehunter.

And I learned about a new threat for ports: combat swimmers. Apparently, terrorists can swim right up to ships and attach bombs to them. As if you didn’t have enough to be frightened about.
