Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007 | On New Year’s Eve at midnight, someone in our area set off some fireworks that sent a red rocket over the houses and landed on a hillside backyard on Elsa Road. The fireworks set fire to the hillside backyard below our homes. Fortunately, some neighbors witnessed the flare-up and were able to alert the neighbors and called 911. Surrounding neighbors used hoses to start wetting down the area. Police and fire department arrived and with a lot of work, were able to put out some very dangerous flames. Needless to say, the neighborhood was shaken by this unfortunate thoughtless act which could have been a catastrophe.
Everyone knows that fireworks are illegal and most of all, very dangerous in this area. We all know about the recent Cedar fire and the amount of destruction and lives lost due to a careless act by someone who will be spending a long time in prison.
Please, if you know who made this latest mistake in judgment, please remind them that their neighbors love their homes and children and need the cooperation of all for our safety. Please do not jeopardize our safety by using fireworks.
Thank you. Your neighbors in Allied Gardens
