Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 | Dear Mayor Sanders and Councilman Faulconer:

How can you allow this to happen to our city? You are my representatives. No one wants this except Doug Manchester and perhaps the Navy.

But how much does the Navy really care? It is just their job. San Diego is our home. And it is your home.

Will you be proud of being a part of the Manchester project after completion when you take your grandchildren through hotel parking lots to get to the water? When I take a walk on Harbor Drive by Manchester’s Marriott and Hyatt, I must go through parking lots where trash dumpsters sit and stink in order to get to the water. Try walking it yourself sometime. We can’t do anything about that bay blockage, but there is still time with the remaining open space.

We hate this plan! It is ugly and selfish!

Let’s build something that we all can be proud of. Listen to the citizens of San Diego. The way it looks to us is that this is only about money and that doesn’t feel very good.
