In response to the pet abuse accusations, you should know that my daughter performs the Wednesday cleaning of the cat box, and she is highly responsible.
And yes, the long term financial solutions at the city will have to continue well after I am out of office, because many of the problems we are addressing developed over decades. For instance, we are paying a $40 million bill for a tax mistake from the Wilson administration (Pete not Woodrow).
The important thing is that we diagnose our problem (the intent of the five-year financial plan just released), create a long term plan to address the diagnosis (as we will have to do before we approve the budget in June), and execute the plan, which I will help do for the rest of my term, and will encourage my successors to follow.
