Mayor Jerry Sanders today announced the dissolution of the Office of Neighborhood and Customer Services, a structure created during Sanders’ original organization of the city under a strong-mayor form of government.

The functions of the office will be transferred to other departments. They include: library, park and recreation, the Commission for Arts and Culture and the Community Services Department. The 6-to-6 program will be transferred city schools.

The $168,000-a-year position of deputy chief operating officer of the office will be eliminated; it is currently filled by Ted Martinez, Jr. In all, 13 positions will be eliminated, according to the Mayor’s Office.
