The city of San Diego will be installing additional street lights and security cameras in South Mission Beach in an effort to step up safety precautions in the neighborhood where sexual assaults took place last October, Mayor Jerry Sanders said today.

Mission Beach, despite its surf-and-sun appeal, is a relatively high crime area of the city. Read a profile on the neighborhood we published a few months ago.
