San Diego City Attorney Mike Aguirre fired Deputy City Attorney David Miller this week. Miller was the lawyer who worked with city staff on that controversial Sunroad tower issue near Montgomery Field.

You’ll remember the building is considered by CalTrans and the FAA to be too tall for safety around the little airport. The city’s lack of success at stopping the construction led Aguirre to accuse Mayor Jerry Sanders’ land-use czar, Jim Waring, of corruption. I had some thoughts about that.

But it was clear that the City Attorney’s Office had also been involved in the discussions for a while as well. Miller was the attorney working on the issue.

In a related note, the U-T reported today that the city attorney was going to hire outside lawyers to help with his lawsuit against Sunroad.
