Tuesday, Mar. 20, 2007 | Dear Councilmembers Scott Peters, Toni Atkins, Tony Young, Donna Frye and Ben Hueso,
I just wanted to thank all of you for your vote last year that banned so called “big box” retail and grocery store hybrids. All of you had such passionate reasonings for your vote such as looking out for the little guy and the ever popular increased traffics concerns, etc. (Funny how there are no “big box” stores in downtown San Diego and no concern for increased traffic). Although all of these reasons were great for PR, none of them explained the real reason for your votes, which was once again in support of the unions that fill your campaign coffers. In the coming weeks, I will be thinking of all of you as I avoid the striking grocers by not shopping at the little guy’s store and by sitting in traffic trying to get to Costco or Sam’s Club to buy my groceries. Thank you for proving once again that things never change at the city of San Diego.
