Monday, March 26, 2007 | Your reporter provides a road map to the Madigan affair in Chula Vista. He also has chronicled the multiple times Mike Madigan and his wife Laurie have engaged in activities that were not in the interest of the public as they engaged in unethical behavior with one or the other a lobbyist representing clients with projects that could be influenced by their spouse in their capacity as a public official.

Given this pattern of abuse of the public trust why did Chula Vista give Laurie Madigan a sweetheart retirement deal and who authorized it?

Interim manager Jim Thomson must have a career death wish if he authorized the Madigan settlement without the blessing of at least Mayor Cheryl Cox.

The mayor and council members have stated they did not draft the agreement. Of course they didn’t draft the agreement, but did any of them approve it?

Come clean Mayor Cox did you approve the settlement or not?

Laurie Madigan should have been fired for cause unless of course she knows where all the skeletons are buried.
