Monday, April 9, 2007 | Development Services Department OK’d the height of the Sunroad building, knowing it violated the FAA rules.

There is an endemic problem with DSD. The problem is that it gets its funding from developer fees — it’s called an “Enterprise Department.” So more development means more staff and higher salaries. Why are we surprised that DSD approves projects that are illegal ?

The solution is to preserve developer fees, but have DSD funded from the general fund, just like the Planning Department.
