We have some news of our own today:

SAN DIEGO — The Society of Professional Journalists announced today that it had awarded voiceofsandiego.org Andrew Donohue its national 2006 Sigma Delta Chi Award for investigative reporting in the independent online category.

The Sigma Delta Chi Awards are among the most prestigious in journalism, annually honoring the finest journalism in print, radio, television, newsletters, photography, online and research in the nation.

Donohue won the award for his six-month investigation into the affordable housing program at the Southeastern Economic Development Corp., a redevelopment agency of the city of San Diego.

This is a big honor for Donohue and the rest of us who get to hang around him every day. It’s no small feat for him to be able to manage the daily news coverage and at the same time try to investigate his own projects.

Congratulations from all of us.
