Monday, April 23, 2007 | Regarding April Boling’s piece “Meet Bertha,” a few questions come to mind: Why doesn’t April address the issue of increasing Bertha’s income? Why doesn’t someone tell Bertha to get a job that pays more or to get a second job?

In the city’s case, why not at least consider the issue of raising taxes? I enjoyed the editorial, but while it proposes solutions that deal with keeping expenses in line, it does not deal with any solution that involves increasing income (which, in my view, must be done only when reasonable measures have first been taken to keep expenses in check).  The editorial should have addressed the income side of the issue.
