Tuesday, April 24, 2007 | Thanks for the informative article on the mayor’s BPR idea. Second, I want to understand that the reason the mayor is not giving out all information on the review of city services is that he doesn’t want private companies to know what the city is doing to streamline services because it might give these companies unfair advantage if they happen to bid for a particular job or service. Is that correct?

I might add that any private company that bids for city service jobs already has more then a 10 percent discount, because they don’t pay their workers as much, don’t pay health care, or have a pension plan, that’s way more then a 10 percent advantage. To my way of thinking, BPR is just a cover to privatize city services and cut jobs and benefits for all city employees.
