Local consultant Laurie Black, who narrowly lost an appointment to the Port Commission in March, said she is interested in seeking the opening left by Victor Vilaplana.
When asked in an e-mail if she is interested in the seat, Black responded with a simple “Yes.”
Black garnered the support of Council President Scott Peters and Council members Kevin Faulconer, Toni Atkins and Jim Madaffer at the March 7 hearing. Atkins switched her support to incumbent Commissioner Stephen Cushman after the council tied in a 4-4 deadlock over the two nominees.
Vilaplana’s resignation, made yesterday, is effective May 31.
