Friday, May 4, 2007 | For the past few months Scott Lewis has been speculating, floating rumors, and announcing the candidacies of those who would seek to replace Jim Madaffer in District 7. In response to his most recent speculative entry, a commenter suggests an idea for a litmus test for District 7’s next representative.

We of the Grantville Action Group have an idea for our own litmus test. The next District 7 council member must support the definition of the rights of private property ownership, as defined in the U.S. Constitution. The best candidate must reject the notion that the government has the moral authority to take one’s property, business, or home to further some sort of economic advantage. We do not want any Gaslamp cigar store tragedies in Grantville and Allied Gardens.

We have over 700 people who have signed on to support the Grantville Action Group in our quest to stand up to redevelopment abuse. The current list of possible District 7 candidates is just two. We hope that more will join the race. Hopefully, there will be one who will live up to our litmus test.

We invite prospective candidates to contact us at www.GrantvilleActionGroup.com .
